Michael A. Pass, 64, of Denver passed away Sept. 25, 2004. Michael grew up in New York City, New York. He graduated from Columbia University with a Master's degree in Social Work in 1974. Michael moved to Denver in 1974 and began his career as a social worker with Arapahoe County Mental Health Center. Between 1976 and 1977 he served as Director of Adams County Mental Health Services and between 1977 & 1979 he was Director of Professional Services, Jewish Family and Children's Services of Colorado. Michael began his private practice as a psychotherapist in 1979. He was founder and director of the Jackson Place Counseling Group from 1985 to the present, serving families, couples and individuals in transition. Human service was his passion. Michael served on the ethics board at Rose Medical Center, was an adjunct professor at the University of Denver Graduate School of Social Work, served on the board of the ACLU and was an active member of St. John's Episcopal Cathedral. Michael also provided substance abuse training and education to the Native American population on New Mexico's Taos Pueblo. Michael loved international travel, spending time at his home in Mexico, fine food, painting watercolors and spending time with family and friends. Husband of Susan; father of Justin (Robyn) Pass and Alexandra (Brian) Smits; grandfather of Caroline Grace Smits; Memorial service, Wednesday, September 29, 2004, 12:00 noon.
