Michael (Mykal) Tesney was born in Big Spring, TX on September 26, 1964. He went to be with his Savior on December 14, 2024. Mykal grew up in a military family and traveled to multiple military bases. He had no problem making friends at any of the military bases where his family was stationed. Once the family settled down in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, he blossomed socially with a large circle of friends. He graduated from Hirshci High School in 1982 and attended Rhema Bible College for a few years.
He became a fashionista early in life. He was always frustrated with his mother and father when they would dress him and his brothers alike. He enjoyed spoiling his nieces and nephews when they were younger, by taking them places and doing things they enjoyed.
After moving many times, and exploring several employment opportunities, Mykal made Denver, Colorado his home in 2006. He worked multiple jobs and gained numerous skills before making the decision to work with Rapport, a contracting company that serves The Teachers Insurance and Annuity Association (TIAA) Corporation. He served as an ambassador in customer relations from 2022-2024. During his tenure of employment, Mykal was awarded the 2023 Rapport Award in New York, being selected from hundreds of nominees nationwide, for his hard work and dedication to excellence.
He was well known, respected, and loved by everyone at TIAA Corporation and was recognized for his support and assistance in planning the 2024 TIAA Holiday Party, receiving a standing ovation from 500 TIAA associates.
While in Denver, he found his church home and became an official member of Colorado Christian Fellowship (CCF) in February of 2016. Mykal loved the Lord and applied himself by enrolling in multiple Christian Vocational Training School (CVTS) classes and workshops, serving in God’s Posse and serving as a greeter in the Ushers & Greeters’ Ministry. One of his most memorable and rewarding classes was Sons of Covenant. He was well loved at CCF, with his infectious smile and personality, greeting everyone who entered the church for praise and worship.
He was an amazing man of God, a faithful servant, and loved his dog, Madison. Mykal will be missed.
Mykal was preceded in death by his parents, Samuel and Karen Tesney of Oklahoma City, OK; and his oldest brother, Lee Tesney. He is survived by his two brothers, Jeff (Alison) Tesney of Sherman, TX, and Russell Tesney of Denver, CO, and a host of nieces and nephews.
