Michael L. Traudt Sr. of Littleton, Colorado passed away unexpectedly and tragically on January 24 due to complications from surgery. Michael was born in Wheat Ridge, CO to Terry Traudt and Virginia (Poole) Traudt. He was raised in Lakewood, CO and graduated from Bear Creek High School.
Mike was a member of the United States Army from 1985 - 1988, where he was a part of the 39th Engineer Battalion, Explosive Ordinance Disposal. He received several commendations and certificates of achievement.
In 1989 he became a Deputy with the Denver Sheriff's department. He received several commendations and certificates of achievement.
In 2001 Mike became a member of the Broomfield Police Department family where he remained until his death. During his tenure in Broomfield, Mike served in Detention, Patrol, Flatirons Services and Traffic. In 2017 he was selected to be a Core Member of the Traffic Unit and was a longtime Field Training Officer.
Mike loved his family, children and grandchildren. For many years his passion was riding Harley Davidson Motorcycles, which transitioned to driving his jeep and enjoying time in his motor home. He enjoyed sipping whiskey and a good cigar.
Mike is survived by his father Terry Traudt; his wife Lisa (Belden) Traudt; children Jessica (Traudt) Riter and Michael Traudt Jr.; six beloved grandsons; sister Michelle Wallingford; a niece and a nephew. He was preceded in death by his mother Virginia (Ginny) Traudt.
Services for Mike will be held on Friday, February 2, 11:00 AM, at St. Timothy's Episcopal Church. 1401 E. Dry Creek Road, Centennial CO, 80122.
In lieu of flowers donations can be sent to Red Rocks 4 Wheelers (Moab), The Colorado Fallen Hero's Foundation, or St. Jude's Children's Hospital.
