Michael William Lewis was born at home in Cloverport, KY, the fourth of eleven children of Raphael and Alice Lewis. He started school at St. Rose of Lima Grade School. Around the 3rd grade, the family moved to Owensboro, KY where he continued school at St. Joseph’s Grade School, St. Mary’s High School in St. Mary, KY, and later St. Meinrad Seminary & School of Theology in St. Meinrad, IN.
Mike trained as an electrician complementing the family’s home building business. In 1955, Mike, two sisters and a cousin loaded into Mike’s 1949 Oldsmobile and headed west, settling in Denver, CO. The group joined the St. Thomas University Club and the Cathedral Young People’s Club where they formed many lasting friendships.
He opened his own business, Lewis Electric serving the Denver area.
Mike was known for his steadfast care of family, friends, and acquaintances. His quiet demeanor reflected his deep and abiding faith. He was a parishioner at Risen Christ Catholic Church. He had a true interest in all those he knew and met and had a masterful love of gardening. He was always ready to lend a hand and expertise to anyone who asked.
