Shelley Baker was born on October 11, 1961 in Denver, Colorado. Shelley died on September 16, 2018 from complications from Type 1 Diabetes, a disease she valiantly fought for over 30 years.
Her parents were Marylyn Becker Baker and Charles R. Baker both of whom predeceased her.
Shelley is survived by three siblings â Jeff Baker, Wendy Baker and Karen Dolan. She also is survived by five nieces and nephews â Lauren Goss, Kelly Hall, Patrick Dolan, Catherine Dolan and Nicholas Dolan. She is also survived by a sister-in-law, Kim Baker, 11 cousins and many other family members and friends as well as her wonderful Vizsla , Winston.
In 2001 Shelley married Rick Watson. The marriage ended in divorce in 2013.
Shelley graduated from Cherry Hills Elementary School, Kent Denver School (1979) and Lake Forest College (1983).
After college Shelley worked in Chicago at the Chicago Board of Trade for 15 years. In 1997 Shelley moved back to Denver and started a little catering company, No Thyme to Cook. In 1998 Shelley joined Morgan Stanley as a Financial Analyst. She held this position until retiring in July 2018. Recently she took a volunteer position at the Harmony Equine Center.
Shelley loved to cook, entertain family and friends, travel and garden. As a Colorado native she loved to ride horses, camp, fish, and ski in her beloved Rocky Mountains.
Shelley loved a good joke, had an infectious smile and laugh and was a superb raconteur. She could tell a wonderful story, relate an experience and captivate her audience with her tales.
Shelley was a loving and compassionate daughter, sister, aunt, and friend. We all will miss her smile forever.
A Celebration of Shelley's Life will be held at Cherry Hills Country Club on September 26, 2018 from 4:00 to 7:00.
In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Children's Diabetes Foundation or the Dumb Friends League Harmony Equine Center.
