Mike Kenney

Michael “Mike” Norman Kenney, 72, Of Lakewood, Colorado, passed away suddenly March 16, 2021. Mike was born August 2, 1948 in Lander, Wyoming to Leo C. and Kathryn I. Anderson Kenney.

Mike grew up in Riverton, Wyoming, graduating from Riverton High School in 1966. Following graduation, he enlisted in the United States Army, where he was stationed in Germany, serving as a Medic.

Mike worked as an EMT for several years at St. Anthony Hospital, then worked as a Switchman and Conductor for 32 years with BNSFRR (Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railroad). He also served as President and in other capacities with West Metro Fire District. Mike was extremely involved with the Jefferson County Democrats and was currently working as a Security Guard.

Mike loved movies, concerts, his kitties and his family, and will be missed by many.

He is a brother to Marcia Kenney and Vicky (David) MacFarlane; uncle to Taryn (Jason) Garcia, Amanda MacFarlane; and a great-uncle to Tyler, Avery, Delaney, and Bronwyn. He was preceded in death by his mom, Kay Kenney; grandparents, Shorty and Bertha Anderson; and nephew, Ryan Billings.

A funeral service will be held at 9:30am, on Wednesday, March 24th, 2021 at The Horan & McConaty Family Chapel, 3101 S. Wadsworth Blvd., Lakewood, CO  80227. A viewing will be held prior to the service beginning at 9:00am. Due to Covid restrictions, a private burial will be held at Fort Logan National Cemetery on Wednesday, March 24th.
