Mike Reid

Michael ""Mike"" Fred Reid, age 66, passed away November 28, 2009, in Aurora, Colorado, following a brief battle with cancer. Mike was born July 4, 1943, in Cheyenne, Wyoming to Lloyd and Margaret Afflerbach Reid. He attended schools in Wyoming, including The University of Wyoming. He married Leila Golden and they had one son, Thomas Kirk Reid. After moving to Denver, Mike worked in the restaurant and bar industry. He worked at the Downtowner; became co-owner of The Islander Restaurant; worked at The Turn of the Century; and then worked for Givens Glass. Mike later moved to Hawaii with Sandy, where they were married a short time later. Together they went into the Photographic Industry, owning and operating SnapShot Inc. for 22 years. Mike loved auto racing (having raced for Oldsmobile), football, golf and deep sea fishing. Survived by his beloved wife, Sandra Marie Reid, of Aurora, Colorado; three children, Thomas Kirk (wife, Elizabeth) Reid, of Littleton, CO; Frederick J. ""George"" Hughes III, of Grass Valley, California; Heidi Helen (husband, David) Lowe, of Lubbock, Texas; seven grandchildren: Chad Reid, Megan Reid, Gavin Reid, Jolie Bakken (husband, Jeff), Jaquita Hughes, Troy Lowe and Dawn Lowe. Mike loved bulldogs and is also survived by Shamrock, Casey and Boomer. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Rick Reid. A celebration of Mike's life will be held on Sunday, January 3, 2010, 3:00pm, at the Heather Ridge Country Club, 13521 East Iliff Avenue, Aurora, CO 80014.
