Mildred was the first born to a prominent Chinese family in Shanghai to Yen Ting Chou and Yvonne (Chang) Chou. At age 97 she outlived many of her friends and acquaintances. She is survived by her younger siblings, in order, including Albert Chou ( 94), Marcelle Chou Fisch (89), Micheline Chou (87), her children Franklin Chang (75), Yvonne Chang (71), Frederick Chang (68), grandchildren Luke Chang, Nicki Chang, Christina Chang, Matthew Chang, and great-grandchildren Hazel DeMarie and Olive DeMarie. She had a very colorful and eventful life. Attending the exclusive Ginling College in Nanjing, (where she was named one of the “Seven Beauties”), she received her Associate's degree and then immigrated to the United States and earned a Bachelor’s degree at Washington University in St Louis, Missouri. She married Robert Chang, a “Flying Tiger” Chinese Air Force pilot during WW2, and moved to San Francisco, California in 1948, to raise their family. She earned her real estate broker license and started her own real estate brokerage firm in Mill Valley, California. She married Yuanyo (Mic) Hsu, her second husband, and resettled in San Francisco in 1995. Following his passing she moved to Colorado, settling in Someren Glenn, a retirement community, for the final 16 years of her life. Her family and friends will miss her dearly.
