Mildred W. Clark

July 7, 1923 — September 26, 2017

Friends, family, and coworkers of Mildred W. Clark, a retired nurse, will be saddened to hear of her passing. She lived a vibrant and healthy life during those 94 years. She was a long time resident of Colorado. She resided in Arvada since 1959 and Denver metro area since 1930s. She was surrounded by the comfort of her family in her Arvada home when she passed peacefully in the morning of September 26th, 2017. While living with her aunt Katherine Fuller, she attended South High School in Denver, Colorado. She graduated in 1941. As WW II was starting, she followed in her aunt’s steps and pursued a career in nursing at the University of Colorado to care for others. Eventually, she worked a long career at Presbyterian Hospital in Denver from a floor nurse to patient representative. Along the way, she finished a master’s degree in nursing at CU Boulder. She was actively involved with the Nursing Association and their newsletter for many years, which she continued pursuing after she retired. Family and friends will recall that she took care of a family and a home with gentle warmth of a nurse; actively involved with cub scouts as a leader, girl scouts as a leader, and playing bridge with her friends. The Arvada Presbyterian Church members will remember the decades of her and her husband, Robert, volunteering their services to the church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert H. Clark, whom she married in 1946; her mother, Lorene Golike; her father Buel Wallace; her aunt Katherine Fuller; and her uncle John Fuller. She is survived by her sister Betty Thornton; her daughter Nancy Olguin and husband Sal; her son John Clark and wife Xue; several grandchildren; and extended family. A Memorial Service honoring Mildred will be held on Thursday, October 12, 2017 at 11:00 AM at Denver West Seventh Day Adventist Church, 290 South Quitman, Denver, Colorado. She continues to pray that we all take time to volunteer and/or donate to others in our community.
