Mildred T. Gustafson

October 18, 1922 — June 1, 2011

Mildred (Milly) T. Gustafson (Tyschen) We are left with a large empty space where the family heart was. Milly was born on October 18, 1922 in Chicago, IL. She met the love of her life, Fred Gustafson (deceased) while at Oak Park and River Forest High School. When Fred went off to World War II they planned their life together through letters that expressed the deep love for each other that lasted more than 50 years after they married on December 15, 1945. Milly studied nursing at Valparasio University and Presbyterian St. Luke's Hospital. She practiced this career at various hospitals throughout the Chicago area including Rush-St. Luke's, Oak Park, West Suburban and Lutheran General. Milly's lifelong love of learning earned her a Master's Degree from Northeastern University in 1987. Milly's lifelong legacy of love has been left to her children: Christine Gerulat (Edward), Fred (Pat), Elizabeth Fitch, Judith Powers (Bernard), Robert (Marlene deceased), Allen ""Sam"" (Marilyn), Peter (Erin), Mary and John (Sofia).
