Mildred "Dee" Smaldone

Mildred “Dee” Smaldone of Lakewood, Colorado passed away with family by her side on January 7, 2023.  She was born May 8, 1930 in Elwood, Nebraska.  She is survived by sons; David (Sonia), Michael (Kathy), and James (Angie); 12 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren.  Dee was predeceased by her parents, LeRoy and Anna Wheeler; her husband, Jerry, and son, Jerry John, Jr.

Dee was very close to her family growing up.  Her father died when she was only 8 years old and had the support of her mother and sisters, Ruth and Maxine. She attended St. Patrick’s Catholic High School in North Platte, Nebraska.  She moved to Denver with her mother and there she met the love of her life, Jerry Smaldone.

Dee and Jerry married and enjoyed a long and happy 67 years together living in Denver, Albuquerque, Syracuse and Buffalo, New York.   They returned to the Denver area in 1977 where they lived out their final years.

They enjoyed each other and spending time with their children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.  They especially enjoyed travelling together.  They enjoyed many road trips from coast to coast and felt fortunate that they were able to visit Italy, France, England, Mexico and Canada.

Services for Dee will be held on January 20, 2023 at Christ on the Mountain Catholic Church, 13922 West Utah Avenue, Lakewood, Colorado.   Visitation will begin at 10:30 a.m., followed by a Funeral Mass at 11:00 a.m.  Committal will follow at Mt. Olivet Cemetery.
