Minnie "Bunni" Davis

Minnie “Bunni” Davis, 78, of Lakewood, CO passed away surrounded by loved ones on May 30th, 2022 after a brief battle with an unknown illness.

Bunni was born on December 8th, 1943 to William and Eunice Strickland in Kendall, FL. After high school, she met the love of her life, Richard Davis, and they married in September 1961. They had their first child, Lori, in 1962, followed by Rick in 1967 and Robert in 1971.

With Richard serving in the United States Air Force and dealing with the travel and other demands of his work, Bunni dedicated her life to being a fantastic and wonderful mother. She not only held everything together daily, but she also made sure things went smoothly during the multiple moves and location changes that come with being a military family. During their 60+ years of marriage, Bunni and Richard lived in Florida, North Dakota, Puerto Rico, Oklahoma, Nebraska, Hawaii, Maryland, Virginia, Hawaii (again), Mississippi, and Colorado.

Bunni was the epitome of selflessness when it came to her family. Not only was she a great support and partner to her husband, but she was tireless in support of her children. While holding down her own full-time jobs with the Army and Air Force Exchange Service…and sometimes having to be both Mom and Dad during some of Richard’s military duty assignments…she never missed an opportunity to assist, support, and love her children. She was a fixture at numerous sporting events and school functions and was a never-ending fountain of encouragement and love. Bunni supported everyone through the passions and difficulties of their lives.

When she finally took a moment of time for herself, Bunni loved gardening, arts and crafts, puzzles, games, travel, music, occasional trips to the casino, and other fun leisure activities. And even though he had millions of fans around the world, we do not believe Elvis Presley ever had a bigger fan than Bunni.

An amazing wife, mother, sister, daughter, friend, and neighbor…she will be greatly missed.

Bunni was predeceased by her father, mother, brother and two sisters, as well as her daughter.

She is survived by her husband Richard, her sons Rick (and wife Evelyn) of Lakewood, CO, son Robert of Littleton, CO, son-in-law Alan Cabacungan of Waipahu, HI, and her sister Traska (James) King of Barnesville, GA.

A Visitation will be held on Tues., June 14, 2022 beginning at 10:00AM to 11:00AM followed by the Funeral Service at 11:00AM both at Horan & McConaty Family Chapel, 3101 South Wadsworth Boulevard, Lakewood. Committal Service will be held at Fort Logan National Cemetery at a later date.
