Myron L. Huffman

March 7, 1942 — August 9, 2014

Myron Lowell Huffman was born to Carlton and Ethel Huffman on March 7, 1942 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Most of his childhood was spent growing up in Kansas City with his sister, Shirley and his brother, Richard. He attended Sunnydale Academy in Centralia, Missouri, where he made many life-long friendships. Myron received a Bachelor's degree in Business Administration and Accounting in 1965 from Union College in Lincoln, Nebraska. He was offered a management trainee position in healthcare and an auditor position with a public accounting firm. Although the accounting position offered nearly double the pay, he felt deeply committed to the work of the Seventh-day Church and chose the trainee position at Porter Adventist Hospital in Denver. He spent the next 22 years there in areas ranging from Accounting, Patients' Business, Materials Management and Administration until he was asked to serve at Adventist Health System/US office in Arlington, Texas, in 1986. Following the closure of AHS/US, he was asked to join Intermountain Healthcare where he worked until medical disability in 1997. He married Karen Johnson in 1963 and they had three children - David, Dara and Susan, and were later blessed with three grandchildren - Evan, Morgan and Madison. In his years of better health, he enjoyed snow skiing, bike riding, camping, boating, softball, Pathfinders, racquetball and four-wheeling. In his later years, he enjoyed visits from friends and family, keeping in touch with classmates and the many friendships he had built over his career. He had a keen ability to connect with individuals and develop friendships that lasted a lifetime. Myron passed away in Arvada, Colorado, on Saturday, August 9, 2014. His dedication and determination to enjoy life in the face of his challenge with Multiple Sclerosis were an amazement and inspiration to all who knew him. He was blessed with special friends, neighbors and angels in disguise who brightened his day too many times to count and helped him live independently. Visitation is Thursday, August 14, 2014 from 6:00-8:00PM at Horan & McConaty Family Chapel, 7577 West 80th Avenue in Arvada, Colorado. Funeral Service is Friday, August 15, 2015 at 1:00PM at the same location. Interment follows at Crown Hill Cemetery, 7777 West 29th Avenue, Denver, Colorado.
