Myrtis ""Toppie"" Mills gently passed away on November 19, 2018 in Springfield, Missouri. He was 98 years-old. Toppie was born March 12, 1920 in Dublin, TX. Toppie served in the Army in the Asiatic Pacific Theater in WWII, until his honorable separation from the military in Fort Logan CO in October of 1945. In 1942, he first met Wardene ""Deanie"" Mills while both were roller-skating at Mammoth Gardens in Denver, CO. They were later married in 1943 in Spokane, Washington and together they had three children: Barbara Lynne, Linda Catherine, and Myrtis Thomas, Jr. As a result of a job transfer with the Federal Aviation Administration in 1966, the Mills Family moved to Frankfurt, Germany, where they lived until 1971. Shortly after returning to the United States, Toppie and Deanie retired and built a new home in Ocean Shores, WA followed by yet another move to a home in Chattaroy, WA. Their love of Washington continued until they moved to Springfield, MO for health reasons. Toppie is survived by his 3 children, 8 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren and one additional great-grandchild, due in January of 2019. A funeral service will be held at St. Francis de Sales Church, 301 S Sherman St. Denver at 10am on Friday November 30, 2018. Burial will take place at 1pm on Friday November 30, 2018 at Fort Logan National Cemetery, 3698 S Sheridan Blvd. Denver
