Nancy Durkee, at 78 years old, passed away, in testate, in January 2024 at her home. Born in California, she graduated from San Carlos High School. Following high school, she completed Paramedic training while concurrently taking nursing classes. Nancy worked 5 years on a flight/ambulance crew before relocating to the Denver, Colorado area. She was proficient working in an office, as well as supervising “forty-five construction foremen with full crews under them.” In later years, she worked as telephone conference administrator/trainer, as well as Customer Service for human resources of several companies while determining why employees left their jobs. Amidst all this Nancy owned an Accounting/bookkeeping service.
Her hobbies and interests varied as much as her employment was. She was a huge fan of Andrea Bocelli, loved horseback riding and country living, and scuba diving that paid for her to travel the world. She was a fierce believer in caring for domesticated animals who did not have a home and was a great supporter of Dumb Friends League. In later years, she loved classic movies. Her favorite book was “Rebecca of Sunnybrook Farm.” Nancy is predeceased by her parents, Orville R. and Frances R. Ballard, and brother Steven. Nancy is divorced and never blessed with children.
Nancy will be cremated. A memorial service will be held in her honor Nancy on Friday, February 21, 2025 at 1 pm at the Horan-McConaty funeral building at 80th Ave and Wadsworth Boulevard. Please send any gifts in Nancy D. Durkee’s memory to the Dumb Friends League
