Nancy Carole McCreless Klein

February 2, 1959 — May 29, 2012

Our beloved Nan slipped peacefully away Tuesday evening, the 29th of May, at home surrounded by family and friends. Born in La Jolla (San Diego), California on Groundhog Day, February 2, 1959, she soon moved to Bethesda, Maryland where the McCreless family remained until marriage took Nan to Tennessee, and ultimately retirement saw her parents go to San Clemente. Nan and Rich met at Vanderbilt, where they both studied, and were married following Nan's graduation in May, 1982. Their eldest son Thom was born in Nashville in 1983, and in 1985 they moved to Florida. Kelly and Kyle were born in Miami in 1987. 1999 saw them move north to Delray Beach and in 2005 moved to Colorado. Thom attended the US Air Force Academy, Class of 2005, and four years of visiting this beautiful state convinced them that they wanted to spend the rest of their lives here. That fall (2005) Kyle started his Air Force career at the Academy and Kelly began at University of Colorado, both Class of 2009. Nan is survived by her husband of 30 years, Rich and their three children: Thom (29), Kyle (25) and Kelly (25), son-in-law Nate, daughter-in-law Brecken, and of course her most precious grandson, Nolan, born in February of this year. Her father, Tom McCreless, sister Cynthia Tate and brother-in-law John, and niece Lindsay Tate live in California. US Naval Academy graduate Christopher Tate and Scott Tate of London are her nephews. Nan dedicated the entire 30 years of her professional life to Neonatal ICU nursing. Vanderbilt, Miami Children's, Boca Raton Community, and finally Denver Children's (now Children's Hospital Colorado) were the NICUs graced with Nan's warmth, love, and caring hands. A Celebration of Nan's Life will be held at 6:30 P.M., Wednesday, June 6, 2012 at Horan & McConaty Family Chapel, 5303 East County Line Road (one block west of South Holly Street), in Centennial, Colorado, In lieu of flowers, the family has established a tribute fund, in Nan's honor, at Children's Hospital Colorado.
