Nancy Jeanne Marks (Ketchum), 62, of Arvada, CO, received her wings July 2, 2008 to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Born November 24, 1945 in Chicago, IL as Nancy Jeanne Ketchum, raised in Tulsa, OK. Survived by husband Ronald A. Marks, parents Dr. and Mrs. Hall Ketchum, daughter Laurie Perkins (Gene), son Scott Marks (Tracy), sister Marcia Ketchum, brother William Ketchum (Jan), Grandchildren Caden Perkins, Sophia Marks, Mason Marks. Nancy was devoted to her family and friends and loved teaching pre-school and doll making, animals, gardening, and traveling. Nancy moved from Chicago at age 7 to Tulsa, OK where her father was instrumental in the initiation of the OB/GYN department at the newly built St. Francis Hospital. Growing up in Tulsa, Nancy loved animals and rode her horse Rueben in the fields surrounding her family home. Her father bought her the horse on a deal he made with her; if he ever got an airplane he would buy her a horse. Well, with a 10 dollar raffle ticket purchased by her Mother, her Father won the airplane at a Doctors banquet. In 1964 she was a member of the first graduating class of Tulsa Memorial High School where she enjoyed singing in the Glee Club. She graduated in 1968 from the University of Kansas with a B.A. in Elementary Education where she was a member of the Chi Omega sorority. After moving to Denver in 1968 with another newly graduated teacher, she began teaching 1st and 2nd grade in Denver Public Schools. This is the city where she met her soul mate in May of 1969, Ron Marks, and was married December 20, 1969. Nancy put her teaching career on hold in 1971 to become a mother, raising Laurie and Scott. She did an extraordinary job. Once the kids were a little older, she began teaching pre-school in North Jeffco Parks and Recreation in 1984. Following in 1990, she began teaching 1st and 2nd grades in Jefferson County Schools as a substitute. Nancy was a highly skilled maker of porcelain dolls winning many blue ribbons which included a ""Best of Show"". Expressing her love of animals and care of others, Nancy volunteered her time at Exempla Lutheran Hospital in the pet therapy program along with ""Missy"", a 6 pound Yorkshire terrier. She was also a volunteer at the Cat Care Society to help improve the quality of life for homeless, injured and abused cats in the Denver metropolitan area. Nancy also enjoyed Bible study, cooking, flower arranging, gardening and traveling. In 2005, Nancy was diagnosed with Parkinson's disease, to add to her many other health related issues. The last three years of her life was a daily battle for her and Ron. But she won that battle and is now pain free in the Kingdom of Heaven. We love you Nancy.
