Nellie Margaret Jagger passed away at her home in Centennial, Colorado on October 26, 2010. She was born in Boulder, Colorado on September 28, 1916, the eldest daughter of James Guy Archibald and Katherine Virginia McCabe. She was the daughter and granddaughter of pioneer Boulder families. Her grandfather, J. J. McCabe owned Boulder Iron Works, which included a foundry, plumbing and sheet metal business in Boulder and was a founding member of Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church in Boulder. Her father, James Guy Archibald, was a practicing attorney and the Boulder City Attorney. Mrs. Jagger attended Sacred Heart School, Boulder public schools and the Boulder Preparatory High School. She graduated from the University of Colorado with an A.B. in music and education, where she was a member of Chi Omega Sorority and Sigma Alpha Iota Honorary Musical Fraternity. Prior to her marriage, Mrs. Jagger taught and supervised music in Webster Grove, Missouri, Mount Harris, Colorado and Boulder County Schools. Nellie Margaret and Herbert Francis Jagger were married at the Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church in Boulder, Colorado on July 23, 1945. They remained in Boulder, while Mr. Jagger completed his education, and then moved to Sand Point and Boise, Idaho; Julesburg, Colorado; and finally settled in Sterling, Colorado, where the family lived for over 40 years. Mrs. Jagger taught music and reading at Saint Anthony Catholic School in Sterling, as well as in several neighboring communities. Mrs. Jagger also taught piano and organ to private students, as well as playing the organ for Saint Anthony Catholic Church and for weddings at churches through Sterling and Logan County. She was active in a number of community organizations including Delta Literary Club, Orpheus Club, Sterling area Music Teachers Association, the local Red Cross chapter and Beta Sigma Phi Sorority. Mr. and Mrs. Jagger enjoyed traveling throughout the United States and Canada, as well as visiting with their children's families stationed in Alaska, Germany and Okinawa. Mrs. Jagger is preceded in death by her parents, husband and brother, James Glenn Archibald. She is survived by four children, Paul (Andrea) Jagger, H. Michael (Kathleen) Jagger, Janell (Kevin) Tanner and Glenn Patrick (Esther) Jagger; nine grandchildren; and five great grandchildren. She is also survived by a sister, Mary Elizabeth (Dolly) Clapham and numerous nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations in Nellie's name to the Johnson Adult Day Program, 3444 S. Emerson Street, Englewood, Colorado 80113; Colorado Community Hospice, 3501 W. 23rd Avenue, Denver, Colorado 80211; or Catholic Charities, 2525 W. Alameda Avenue, Denver, Colorado 80215. Recitation of the Rosary will be held at 3:30 p.m., Sunday, October 31st at Horan & McConaty Family Chapel, 5303 E. County Line Road (one block to the west of Holly Street), in Centennial, Colorado. A Funeral Mass will be held at 11:30 a.m. at St. Thomas More Catholic Church, 8035 S. Quebec Street, in Centennial Colorado. Interment will be at Green Mountain Cemetery in Boulder, Colorado.
