As we mourn the loss of Nick, we are comforted by the fact that he is no longer suffering and is in GOD'S hands.
Nick's bout with cancer started ten years ago. In the last three years, He developed Metastatic Cancer and his condition worsened in the last three years. When he passed away, he was surrounded by his mother, father, brother & stepmother.
He is preceded in death by his grandparents, Bud and Sue Hauschildt and Alfredo & Anita Garcia. He is survived by his mother, Emmer, father Juan, stepmother, Anna and brother, Mark, two nieces, Tinesha and Nisa Garcia, great niece, Tulip and great nephew, Oberyn (0.B.) His stepfamily includes: his two stepbrothers, Joe Florez & Glen Davis; Nieces & Nephews: Cortney, Zack & Paige Florez, Ryan, Isaiah and Zeph Davis; 3 Great nieces & 2 Great nephews. Nick has many relatives from Del Norte, in the San Luis Valley in Colorado.
Nick attended schools in Commerce City, Colorado and moved to Arvada, Colorado in 1983 and graduated from Arvada High School. As a young boy, he joined the Cub Scouts and Webelos. He enjoyed fishing and camping and also enjoyed spending time with his family and various relatives in Colorado as well as visiting his grandparents in Apache Junction, Arizona.
As an adult, he enjoyed spending time with the Game Nighters, a group of special friends that got together weekly to play games at Kim & Pauline Wolf's home in Arvada.
Nick chose to deliver pizza for over 30 years. He enjoyed the interaction of the customers he served and was very friendly. Just like his dad, he never met a stranger. He had a cheerful disposition and was friendly with everyone he met. He was a gentle soul.
Nick moved to Arizona due to his arthritis. He enjoyed gambling and while in Arizona, he took the opportunity to go as often as he could, depending on how he was feeling.
He received his sacraments from Father Keith of St. Margaret Mary
Catholic Church. He attended mass when his father and stepmother visited him. He enjoyed mass and was given the last rites a few days before his death.
Although Nick was suffering a lot, he kept a positive attitude. He enjoyed being sung to and when he was feeling well, he would belt out a song or two.
His mother & brother were his caretakers for the last 3 years. Three weeks prior to his death, he was given hospice care at home. The nurses who cared for him were wonderful and took good care of him. They enjoyed his friendly smile and he would always request his hug before they left.
Nick was flown to Denver on Wednesday, 6/23/2021.
