Nicholas J. Lawlor, Jr., age 70, of Thornton, Colo., passed away in his home on January 28, 2022. Born September 15, 1951 in Denver, he married his wife Patricia on June 21, 1975. They lived in Thornton, raising their two daughters. Nick worked in the natural gas department of Public Service/Xcel Energy for more than 30 years before retiring in 2012. He taught safety classes for his department, was active in the union and was well known for serving as emcee for the annual Gas Hog Rodeo even after retirement. Nick enjoyed golfing with friends, traveling to visit family, attending Rockies games, and volunteering at the Denver Museum of Nature and Science. Nick will be greatly missed by his daughters Nicole Violet Lawlor and Kelly Lawlor Bresnahan, son-in-law Ryan Bresnahan, grandchildren Oliver and Claire Bresnahan, and siblings Linda Murray, Jeanne Davis, Cathy Lawlor and Tom Lawlor. Nick was preceded in death by parents Nicholas and Violet Lawlor and his wife Patricia. Services will be held on Friday, February 11th at 2pm at Horan & McConaty, 9998 Grant Street, Thornton, CO 80229. During the service, guests will be invited to speak and share any thoughts or memories they may have of Nick. Following the service, there will be an informal reception.
