Nicholas Andrew Nelson

Nicholas Andrew Nelson, age 32, died at his home on Thursday, November 26, 2015. Nick passed away peacefully in his sleep of natural causes. Nick was born on August 26, 1983, at Presbyterian Hospital in Dallas, Texas, and moved to Minnesota with his family shortly thereafter. In 1989, the family relocated to Denver, Colorado, where Nick lived most of his life. He graduated Smoky Hill High School in 2001. In high school he was involved in choral music and marching/concert band. Nick received his Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration from the University of Colorado at Boulder in 2005. Nick then attended Real Estate School and received his license in Real Estate and worked with Kathy (mother) and Zac (brother) at Coldwell Banker Residential Brokerage. For almost 10 years he helped at the family business, Juice Stop. Most recently Nick worked at the University of Denver Catering Services. Nick was a lover of music, skiing and mountain biking. He was an incredibly compassionate, generous, loving and caring person. He is survived by his father and mother, Eric, Jr. and Kathy Nelson; his brother and sister-in-law, Zac and Amanda Nelson, his niece Eloise and nephew Eddie; his sister and brother-in-law, Krista and Anthony Drakes, his nephew Gavin. He is preceded in death by grandparents Martin and Vera Detert, Ceylon, MN, and Eric, Sr., and Evelyn Nelson, Fort Smith, AR. Services will be held Friday, December 4, 2015, 10:30am, at Augustana Lutheran Church, 5000 East Alameda Avenue, Denver, CO, 80246. There will be a public visitation taking place on Thursday, December 3, 2015, from 5-7pm, at Horan and McConaty Funeral Home, 1091 South Colorado Boulevard, Denver, CO, 80246. Interment will occur at a later date. Memorial Contributions are welcomed to the following Organizations: 1) Nassen Detert Post #529 (Ceylon, MN American Legion) c/o Kathy Nelson 6000 E. 6th Ave., Denver, CO 80220 (In honor of Nick's grandfather, Martin Detert, World War II veteran, with whom Nick was very close.) 2) Augustana Lutheran Church -see address above (Nick's childhood church) 3) Christ Church United Methodist -690 Colorado Boulevard, Denver, CO 80206 (Nick's current church)
