It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Nicole Genevieve Obregon, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, who passed away peacefully at the age of 89 in Centennial, Colorado on October 25, 2024. Nicole was born on October 9, 1935, in Paris, France, and lived a life marked by both personal and professional achievements that touched many.
Nicole's journey began in Paris, where she completed her early education before pursuing a degree in Dental Surgery from the prestigious Faculté de Médecine de Paris. She furthered her studies at the University of Michigan School of Dentistry, where she honed her skills and prepared for a distinguished career in dentistry. In 1973, she founded Obregon Family Dentistry in Livonia, Michigan, where she built a thriving practice that became a trusted healthcare resource for countless families. After serving her community for nearly three decades, she passed the torch of leadership to her son, Dr. Mark Obregon, in 2002, continuing her legacy of care and dedication.
Nicole was passionate about many things. A polyglot, she spoke French, English, Spanish, German, and Italian with ease, reflecting her love for travel and connecting with others across cultures. She was an avid traveler, exploring the world and immersing herself in its many wonders. Music was another central part of her life—whether playing the piano or guitar, or enjoying the beauty of classical music, she found solace and joy in melodies. Her love for the outdoors was evident in her active lifestyle, which included tennis, skiing, golf, and bike riding. Throughout it all, she treasured the time spent with her family, especially her grandchildren, who brought her endless happiness.
Nicole was predeceased by her parents and many extended family members, but she leaves behind a loving family who will carry her memory forward. She is survived by her devoted husband, Dr. Carlos Obregon, MD; children, Dr. Michael Ryan Obregon, OD, Christine Obregon McCarthy, and Dr. Mark Obregon, DDS; and grandchildren, Sean, Matthew, Molly, and Ryan McCarthy, as well as Ethan and Ava Obregon.
Nicole’s warmth, intellect, and adventurous spirit will be dearly missed by all who knew her. She was a true embodiment of grace, kindness, and passion for life. A service will be held on November 15 at St Moore Catholic Parish in her honor, and in lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to a charity of choice in her memory.
