Nicole Cooper Pearce, age 54, died at home on February 1, 2019.
Nicole was born November 15, 1964 in Denville, New Jersey, and grew up in Texas. Nicole graduated with a BA from the University of Southern California in 1987 and earned a Masters in Fine Arts in creative writing from Vermont College. An avid reader since childhood, Nicole was also a dedicated writer her entire adult life, whose fictional work was published in literary journals. A passionate believer in social justice and environmental preservation, Nicole dedicated her work life almost entirely to non-profit organizations, including the Sierra Club Legal Defense Fund and, most recently, Ronald McDonald House.
Nicole is survived by her two sons, Samuel and Cooper, whom she loved dearly. She is also survived by her mother, Barbara Pearce Chandler of Houston, Texas and by her siblings Michael Pearce of Charleston, South Carolina, Kevin Pearce of Chappaqua, New York, Kathleen Tippins of Tahoe Vista, California, Robert Chandler of Santa Monica, California, and Dean Chandler of New York, New York. Nicole was predeceased by her father, Walter Pearce.
A memorial service for friends and relatives will be held at 4 p.m. Friday February 8 at Horan and McConaty, 11150 E. Dartmouth Avenue in Aurora, Colorado, with a reception to follow.
