Noel G. Knutson

A Drive Down Memory Lane with Noel Knutson – November 11, 2010 Noel Garl Knutson, 75, of Northglenn, Colorado went home to be with the Lord on November 7, 2010 at North Suburban Hospital in Thornton, Colorado. He was born on November 10, 1934 to Ward and Thelma Knutson in Wilsonville, Nebraska. His passion was sports – he loved all sports, but his absolute favorite was football. He particularly loved the Denver Broncos. If you tried to call him during a Broncos game, he wouldn't even take your call and you knew it wasn't anything personal. In high school he loved track too. He would miss the bus ride home from Beaver City to his home in Hendley if it meant he could play any sport. He'd walk home many times because he loved athletics with a passion. He also loved drawing pictures of football players, and he was quite good at it. Most important, Noel read the Bible routinely and continued his quest for biblical knowledge throughout his entire adult life. Noel graduated from Beaver City High School in 1952. After graduating, he enlisted in the Navy. He was stationed aboard the U.S.S. Wasp as a radioman. His ship took him overseas travelling to Egypt and the Suez Canal. In March of 1958, Noel's life was forever changed. Driving home after a date, he didn't hear the police car's siren coming up behind him. Noel's radio was up too loud and he didn't realize that there was a police chase in progress. The car being pursued went through a stop sign and broadsided Noel's car. Noel was thrown from his car and was in a coma for three weeks. He had a strong will though and survived. Noel worked as a rate clerk with ICX Trucking Company, NW Transport and Paramount Traffic in Denver for many years. He left the transportation field to pursue a career as a stockbroker. After his wife Pat passed away, he worked as a postal worker until the end of his career. He is survived by his son Mitch Knutson (Margo) of Franktown, Colorado; his three daughters Cheri (George) Dobratz of Thornton, Colorado, Michelle (Jon) Bowman of Thornton, Colorado, Christine Tidey of Baton Rouge, Louisiana; four grandsons, two granddaughters and one great granddaughter; two brothers Neil (Joyce) Knutson of Centennial, Colorado and Maurice (Roberta) Knutson of Axtell, Nebraska and one sister, Sharon (Russell) Estill of North Platte, Nebraska. He is preceded in death by his wife, Patricia Ann (Houseworth) Knutson, by his father Ward Knutson, his mother Thelma (Gueck) Knutson, infant brother Marvin Knutson, sister Norma Bickett, brother-in-law Virgil Bickett and sister-in-law Gladys (Orvis) Knutson.
