Noel was born in Bismarck, North Dakota on July, 19th 1935 and was raised in Spokane and Walla Walla, Washington where he graduated from Walla Walla High School in 1955. He attended Monterey Peninsula College where he met and later married Irene Fernandez on February 7th 1960. He received his bachelorâs degree in criminal justice from Nebraska University in 1969. He earned his Masters of Education from the University of Southern California in 1975.
Noel joined the Army in 1955 and did tours in Vietnam from 1967 through 1968 where he earned the Vietnam Service Medal with three bronze service stars, the Vietnam Cross of Gallantry, and the Purple Heart. He retired from the Army at Fort Carson in September of 1975 having achieved the rank of Chief Warrant Officer.
After retiring from the Army Noel was employed at various companies and retired from Martin Marietta in 1991. He enjoyed his retirement by working as a golf instructor at South Suburban Golf Course until 2007.
Noel is survived by his wife of 50 years, Irene; children Victoria (Pat) Walsh, Michael (Susie) Rogers, Theresa (Jim) Anderson, and Steven (Denise Salazar) Rogers; and grandchildren Shannon, Megan and Brian Walsh, Molly and Leah Rogers, Emily and Jamie Anderson, and Dorian Salazar-Rogers.
