Noma Juanita La Susa

Noma Juanita LaSusa, 80, of Aurora, CO passed away November 20, 2015. She was born June 14, 1935 in Burlington, NC to Darryl & Florence (Ensley) Hood. Noma was an inspirational person, mother and wife. Throughout her life she exuded strength and courage while juggling the adversity of being a soldier's wife and raising her children, all the while putting herself through college to obtain her cosmetologist degree. She opened Noma's Beauty Salon in Baldwin Park, CA and was well regarded at the top of her profession, and also enjoyed competing and winning hairstyle competitions with her daughter Mary. She and her husband then acquired and operated an industrial sales company for the last 30 yrs. before handing the reigns to the second generation of her family. She met her beloved husband Thomas in Babylon NY, and went on to be lovers, friends and spouses for 59 years. They both enjoyed dancing, coaching sports, gambling and cooking wonderful dinners for their family. She was an avid Steelers football fan and her family loved to say how truly tough she was, even playing on the City of Azusa's woman's tackle football team, she was a fierce competitor at everything and one of the toughest middle linebackers to play. She enjoyed coaching softball and tutoring children in elementary classes. She was a devout catholic and avidly involved in politics and was conservative Republican. Noma is preceded in death by her parents and her sister Lorene. Survivors include her husband, Thomas LaSusa; children, Robert LaSusa & wife Melissa, Frank LaSusa & wife Cassi, Giuseppe ""Pino"" & Mary Rispoli and Thomas La Susa Jr. & wife Lisa; grandchildren, Giovanna & Sophia Rispoli, Isabella, Adrianna, Gabriella, Frankie, Alexa, Savanna, Colton, Arianna & Antonio LaSusa; great grandchildren, Ryan, Lillie & Zayden; sister Marrian. Services for Noma will be held at 11:30 am on Friday, November 27, 2015 at the Horan & McConaty Chapel, 11150 E. Dartmouth Ave., Aurora, CO with interment to follow at 2:15 pm at Fort Logan National Cemetery, Denver. Please share your memories of Noma and condolences with her family by signing the guestbook
