NORA L. JENKS OBITUARY

Nora Lee Jenks, age 66, of Highlands Ranch, CO., went to be with the Lord on Sunday, January 1st, at Sky Ridge Medical Center, Lone Tree, CO., with her family at her side.

Nora was born January 18, 1956, in Wausau WI, the daughter of Edwin J. Petrowski Jr. and Patricia R. (Rhyner) Petrowski. She graduated from Rhinelander Senior High in 1974.

Nora went to grade school at St. Mary’s Catholic School. It was there that Nora, along with friends joined the Belles of St. Mary’s, a marching band. The Belles allowed Nora to play drums and allowed her the opportunity to travel and play throughout the Midwest, including a Packer pre-season halftime show which featured Bart Starr as the Packers’ quarterback. The friends Nora forged during those years remained friends throughout her life.

Nora moved to Colorado in late 1975, working at Breckinridge Ski Resort as a lift operator. After a few years Nora moved to Denver CO., where she went to work for U.S. West, a company created out of the Bell Telephone breakup. It is during this time where she met and married Alan Jenks.

Nora and Alan moved to San Diego for a few years, after which they moved back to Colorado and established Highlands Ranch Wine & Spirits in 1992. Theirs was the very first liquor establishment in Highlands Ranch which - at the time - was the fastest growing city in the United States, Over the next 20 years Alan and Nora would build, own and operate three liquor stores in the city.

Nora enjoyed traveling and made many trips with her husband Alan and children Travis and Keegan. She took much pleasure in watching her sons participate in school activities. One of her fondest memories is when Alan and she took Nora’s mother Patricia on a trip to Italy.

Nora was longtime Packer fan who also became an ardent Bronco’s fan. She was glad that her two teams met seldom, but when they did, she found herself rooting for the Bronco’s.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Alan and her son Travis.

Survivors include son Keegan (Chelsea) Jenks, Highlands Ranch CO, granddaughter Haven Lee Jenks and brother David (Deborah) Petrowski, Rhinelander WI. Nora is also survived by her two uncles, Charles (Lenora) Rhyner, Green Bay WI and John (Karen) Rhyner of Rothschild WI. Nora was also a very proud mother to two very special companions, her dogs Sienna and Dexter.

The family would like to express their deepest gratitude to the ICU department at Sky Ridge Medical Center in Lone Tree, as well as the numerous friends and caregivers that helped Nora throughout the years.
