Norma J. Novotny, 94, of Denver passed away on December 5, 2020 at Oberon House in Arvada. Born on October 15, 1926 in Tabor, South Dakota she was the daughter of Emanuel George and Mary Louise (Karolevitz) Novotny. Norma spent her formative years in Yankton South Dakota, graduating from Yankton High School. Norma moved to Denver when she was in her early 20’s where she built a good life and had a fabulous friend base that were in her life for years.
Norma worked as a secretary for the telephone company for over 45 years. She lived most of her adult life in a sweet Washington Park bungalow. Norma watched over the neighborhood from her front porch and was graced with wonderful neighbors who watched over her. Neighbor kids were frequent visitors to her porch to enjoy her company, along with candy and cookies.
She enjoyed sports of all types, and wholeheartedly supported her Denver teams! She was an avid Broncos, Rockies, Nuggets and Avalanche fan. She was an early Bronco season ticket holder, enjoying her spot in the notorious south stands. She will be remembered for traveling with the Broncos, as well as spoiling her family.
She loved and was dearly loved by her 11 nieces and nephews; Bob, Mary Ann [deceased], Pam, Jim, Paul, Fred, Kevin, Chris and Steve Novotny, Michele Winder and Faith White, 15 great-nieces and nephews and 3 great-great nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her siblings Robert, Regina and Frederick.
Norma spent the last years of her life as a resident of the Oberon House, where she received kind, compassionate care. The family would like to extend their thanks to the staff of Oberon House for everything they did for Norma.
