Norman Fred Balding

August 19, 1928 — August 15, 2005

On August 15, 2005, Norman was called home to be with the Lord following an over 2.5 year illness with cancer. On August 19, 1928, Norman Fred Balding was born to Fred and Stella Balding of the Black Community of Illinois. Norman grew up in rural Illinois and served for a period of time in the Army Air Force. On May 14, 1955, he was married to Joy Del Johnson at the West Side Christian Church in Denver, Colorado. Over the years they have been active in various area Christian Churches, namely West Side, Bear Valley, and currently Green Mountain, and have been interested in the work at Cookson Hills Children's Home, Colorado Christian Service Camp and various Christian Bible Colleges. A son Bradley Owen was born to Norman and Joy on February 10, 1962. Norman retired in August 1983 from Montgomery Wards after working over 28 years in their warehouse. After his retirement Norman did some volunteer work at the Christian Church Extension Foundation. Norman was preceded in death by a still born son in December 1960, and by his mother, father, and brother Walter. He is survived by his wife, Joy; son, Brad and wife (Rhonda); grandchildren Erin and Taylor, and brothers Edgar and wife (Mildred), and Nile and wife, (Helen), and nieces, Myra, Sue, Alice, Kathy, and Joyce; and nephews Tom and Gary, and many great nieces and nephews. Memorial Service Thursday, August 18, 2005, 2:30 pm, Green Mountain Christian Church, 10700 W. Exposition Ave., Lakewood, CO 80226. Memorials suggested to the church for Camp Scholarship Fund.
