Norman L. Case, 90, died in his sleep, April 26, 2019, following a brief illness. He was born December 6, 1928, in Lincoln, NE, the son of Raymond Irvin and Sophia Christine (Lewis) Case.
Norman graduated from Lincoln High, Class of 1946. He then attended the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, receiving his degree in Chemical Engineering in 1951. He received his MBA from Northwestern in 1957.
Upon graduating with his Chemical Engineering Degree, he began his career with Merck & Co, followed by employment at Diamond Alkali, Jefferson Chemical, and Monsanto. During his tenure at Diamond Alkali, he was drafted into the Army as an Officer, completing his two-year requirement. In 1967 he started his Manufacturing and Design firm, Intermountain Systems (later known as Water Technology and Filter Tech Systems) which he ran until his retirement in 1992.
Norman was an accomplished photographer having been a professional photographer at 14 years of age. His love of photography, capturing moments and sharing them with all, is a legacy his family and friends will enjoy for centuries. Genealogy became a passion of his as he neared retirement, traveling all over the country to explore his familyâs history, connecting with relatives heâd never met and building an extensive network of family members. In 1989 he completed Volume 1 of âThe Life History of Norman L. Case,â a historical retrospective of his life, his relatives as well as friends who made an impact on his life. He continued to provide family members addendums as the years moved along.
A workaholic by nature, even after retirement Norman continued to treat many of his activities as if he were running a business. Whether that be personal finances, joining various boards or merely organizing and cataloging his thousands of photos/videos, his attention to detail was known to all. After retirement, he and Jane traveled extensively all over the world developing a more extensive network of friends.
His parents, first wife, Norma Jane Case, as well as both his sisters, Nancy Cotter and, Judy Schememauer, predeceased him. He is survived by his wife, Jane H. Case, sons Brian, Jim (Ginger), Alan and Gordon (Julie), Seven Grandchildren Meghan, Elizabeth, Mallory, Tyler, Zachary, Emily and Andrew, three Great Grandchildren, Aiden, JB and Teddy Hafer.
A service of remembrance, followed by a reception, will be held 10:30 am Wednesday, May 1st at Grace Presbyterian Church, 9720 US Highway 85 N., Highlands Ranch, CO 80125. Interment will be at Fairmont Cemetery, Denver, Co. Those who wish to remember Norman in a special way may make gifts in his memory to National Genealogical Society, 6400 Arlington Blvd, Suite 810, Falls Church, VA 22042-2318.
