He grew up in Catonsville, Maryland and attended Catonsville Elementary, Catonsville Middle and Catonsville High School, graduating from the latter in 1966. He attended the University of Maryland, College Park and then after a year enlisted in the US Army. Following completion of basic training at Fort Dix and Fort Devans, he deployed and lived for several years in Berlin, Germany. After decommissioning from the military, he worked as a salesman for several years before joining the Department of Defense again, where he worked for the remainder of his career in both Maryland and Aurora, Colorado until retiring in 2001. Upon retirement, he moved to Buena Vista where he lived for eight years before returning to live in Aurora. Norman and Bonnie Williams, his wife of 17 years, had two sons. Nicholas Matthew Dorn lives with his wife Celina Michell Dorn and four children in Aurora, Colorado. Norman is survived by six grandchildren: Mariposa, Cayden, Landon, Cameron, Elinor and Peter Dorn. Norman loved the mountains of Colorado and during retirement, he focused much of his efforts on photography, primarily landscape photos taken along the back roads of the Colorado Rockies. He formed Kevnick Photography and produced thousands of photos, many of which were displayed at craft shows, 9News, as well as various restaurants and public buildings across Colorado. Norman was heavily involved in the Buena Vista community; during his residency there, he led activities such as organizing the town's Christmas and Holiday light displays, as well as filming local events such as high school sports and town hall meetings. His other primary interests were sports and movies, particularly Westerns such as the mini-series Centennial. He will be greatly missed by all.
