Mrs. Nguyễn Thị Oanh, age 87 of Lakewood, passed away at her son’s residence Thursday evening, July 30th, 2020. Her final days were spent surrounded by family and friends that she had touched throughout her years living in America.
Mrs. Nguyễn was born on May 10th, 1933, Hai Phong, Vietnam. She was a daughter of the late Nguyễn Văn Khánh and Lê Thị Tuyết. She got married in 1949 and moved to Saigon with her family in 1954. She relocated to America in 1991.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 31 years, Khổng Trung Lộ and is survived by her nine children that include five daughters: Thanh Phương, Thanh Huyền, Minh Phượng, Quỳnh Giao & Huyền Vi; four sons: Mạnh Hoàng, Mạnh Trình, Mạnh Trang & Mạnh Tuân along with their spouses; ten grandchildren: Thụy, Khanh, Hoàng Anh, Ryan, Khang, Vỹ, Huân, Huy, Vivienne & Elise and two great grandchildren: Carson and Samara.
Mrs. Nguyễn devoted much of her life raising her nine children as a young widow in Vietnam, and enabling them to come to the United States. She was a loving mother and grandmother.
Her interests included learning English, listening to music, fashion, gardening, and cooking for her family and friends. She was very active in her church community and fundraising events. Through her church, she met and made friends with many wonderful people.
Visitation will be at the All Saints Catholic Church at 2559 S. Federal, Denver CO 80219, Friday, August 7th, 2020, between 4 and 6PM. There will be a special mass celebrated immediately after visitation at All Saints.
Funeral service (Live stream http://http:// giaoxudenver.org/ ) will be held 11:00AM Saturday, August 8th, 2020, at Queen of Vietnamese Martyrs Catholic Church at 4655 Harlan Street, Wheat Ridge, CO 80033. Burial will follow at Mt. Olivet cemetery in Wheat Ridge, CO.
