Pamela Dawn Rothery

February 28, 1944 — December 7, 2024

Pamela Dawn Rothery, age 80, passed away on December 7, 2024, after a car accident in Denver, Colorado. Pam was born in Chicago on February 28, 1944, and grew up in Arlington Heights, Illinois, where she graduated from Arlington High School.

In November 1966, Pam married Theodore (Ted) Doering, and together, they moved to Delaware. Their journey took them across the country, including a beloved chapter in California, where Pam fondly remembered trips to San Francisco and her favorite place, Carmel-by-the-Sea. Ted’s career also brought them to Rhode Island, where they made lasting memories entertaining friends and family. Pam’s cooking, especially her lobster and seafood dinners, was a highlight of every visit, along with trips to Boston and Newport.

Pam eventually returned to Arlington Heights, Illinois, where she raised her daughter, Holly (Doering) Flannigan, surrounded by the love of family.

Throughout her career, Pam excelled in sales, starting with selling ad space for a Northern California newspaper. She later made a name for herself selling the pioneering technology of the 1980s, including pagers and cellular car phones. Her greatest success came as a life insurance sales agent with Zurich Direct. Pam's work ethic was legendary, and many family members remember her urgent, end-of-month calls to help her meet her application quotas.

Pam’s greatest joy was her role as a grandmother. She adored spending time with her grandsons, Jackson (23) and Conlan (21). Living in Chicago, she made frequent trips to Denver to be with them, especially during Christmas, when she led holiday traditions like baking cookies, decorating, and visiting the Blossoms of Light at the Denver Botanic Gardens. Pam was a constant presence at her grandsons' performances and ceremonies, and they could always count on receiving care packages filled with her favorite Fannie Mae candies for Valentine’s Day and Easter.

In 2022, Pam moved to Denver to be closer to Holly, Jackson, and Conlan, cherishing the time spent with them over the last few years.

Pam was preceded in death by her parents, Herbert Rothery, Dawn (Minon) Rothery Berngen, and Walter Berngen, as well as her brother, Douglas Rothery. She is survived by her sister, Bunny Berngen; sister-in-law, Carol (Shanley) Rothery; nephews Douglas Rothery and Thomas Rothery (wife Katie); nieces Christy Juceam (husband Greg) and Amy Rothery; and six great nieces and nephews.

A private ceremony will be held, and Pam will be cremated. Her family will remember her with love, and her memory will live on through the many lives she touched.
