Patricia ""Pat"" Bane

January 16, 1924 — September 25, 2016

Patricia ""Pat"" Bane was born in Longmont, Colo., to 23-year-old, Lucetta Hovlid Martindale, and, 24-year-old, Frank Lewis Martindale, on January 16, 1924. Pat was the youngest of three sisters, which included Lois ""Loie"" Yandell, and LaVaugh ""Vonnie"" Lyons. Besides her sisters, Pat adored her maternal grandparents: Johannes and Maude Hovlid. She enjoyed fishing and riding her bike with her beloved grandfather. When her parents divorced, Lucetta moved her girls from Longmont to an apartment in Denver, where Pat promptly met her best friend for life: Beverly Bald. The two enjoyed ice skating on the lake, going to the movies and laughing...always laughing. Pat graduated from East High School on June 12, 1942, and on graduation night, married John M. Bane in a small ceremony. She moved with her new husband to the Ft. Francis E. Warren army post in Cheyenne, Wyo. When John was sent to Alaska during WWII, she stayed behind and gave birth to their first son, Douglas Warren. Following John's return at the end of the war, the family moved back ""home,"" living in a quonset hut in north Denver. They added two more sons: David Gary and Michael Robert, and eventually moved to the house she always wanted on East Atlantic Place in Denver. Although a housewife in her early years, Pat later found night work as a nurse's aide. The greatest ambition in her life, though, was ""to be a good member of my family."" Pat was proceeded in death by her mother, grandparents, sisters, husband, and granddaughter, Alison Bane. She is survived by her three sons and their spouses: Ty, Vickie and Mary; her grandchildren: Jennifer (Shane) Klemm, Jason (Julie) Bane, Todd (Lily) Bane, Kelsey (Dustin) Leffingwell, and Kevin Bane; her great-grandchildren: Madison Broostrom; Seth and Jayden Klemm; Stella, Marcus and Caroline Bane; Declan and Lena Leffingwell; and Bridget Bane. She also cherished her living nieces and nephews: Susie Foster and Debi Knox; Don Lyons and Karen Lyons; Johnny, Jean (McClanahan) and Jimmy Litzenberger; and her other best friend for life, Clemie Fitch. Pat was a lifelong animal lover, so donations in her memory may be made to the animal shelter of your choice.
