Patricia Crenner-Tatman was born on February 26, 1926 in Ohio and placed in foster care with Lucille Vidler. Patricia passed away October 29, 2024 at the age of 98 years and 8 months.
She has lived through the Great Depression and World War II. In 1944 after graduating High School, she attended art school in Pittsburgh, Pa. and in 1945 her fiancée (Bill Corwin from Ohio) was killed on the assault on Okinawa. In 1946 she met and married her first husband August F. Crenner, a World War II veteran, and together they started a sign painting company in Pittsburgh until 1951 when they moved to Ohio. They moved to Bellevue, PA. in 1955 where they bought a house and raised their children until August passed away in 1992 after 47 years of marriage. During this period, Patricia began training as an EMT I in 1972 and working ambulance duty at night. In 1976 she graduated from Community College of Allegheny County with an Associate Degree, was capped as an LPN, and went to work at Bellevue Suburban Hospital. In 1992, after August’s passing, she moved to Golden, CO to be with her eldest son and help care for her granddaughter and also worked as a manager and trainer at a dry-cleaning store. In 2005, she met and married her second husband, Kenneth Lymon Tatman, also a World War II veteran, with whom they shared 16 years of marriage before Kenneth passed away in 2021. During this period, she was active with both the VFW and American Legion auxiliaries, becoming the President of the American Legion auxiliary in 2005. On April 6, 2024, she was admitted to Lakewood Villa nursing home in Lakewood, CO for memory care where she peacefully passed away in her sleep with her eldest son by her side. Patricia was passionate about her family. She loved flowers and holidays, and always had beautiful surroundings for the holidays being the artist that she was.
