Patricia A. Hopperstad

April 1, 1968 — December 3, 2017

With great sadness, the family of Patricia (Patti) Aileen Hopperstad, 49, announced she passed away December 3rd, 2017, at the Porter Hospice Residence in Centennial, Colorado. A devoted wife and mother, she is survived by her husband, Jesse, and two children, Riley and Hannah. She is also survived by her sister, Ericka Lynn Salerno. The Hopperstad family lives in Highlands Ranch, Colorado. Patti was born April 1st, 1968, in Colorado Springs, Colorado to Nancy Lark Hughes. She grew up in Pueblo, Colorado, where she lived for many years with her grandparents, Clifton and Johnnie Hughes. She also spent time in Indiana, New Jersey, and Florida, living with her uncle and aunt Clifton and Janet Hughes. She graduated from Hackettstown High School in New Jersey in 1986. Patti attended the University of Colorado, graduating with a bachelor’s degree in nursing in 1994. She soon began a long, satisfying career with Colorado Allergy and Asthma Centers in Denver. Starting as a staff nurse, she quickly became a nursing supervisor, overseeing 13 nursing professionals in six local offices and two community outreach offices. Patti’s experience and dedication quickly led to additional promotions. She became a clinic manager in 1996, working with four physicians at six local sites, and director of human resources in 1997, when she began managing benefit programs and developing training programs for 100 employees at 14 sites statewide. After briefly relocating to Phoenix, where she worked as a quality review nurse for Aperture and a project consultant for Mayo Clinic, Patti returned to Colorado and resumed working for Colorado Allergy and Asthma Centers from 2001 to 2017 as a staff nurse. Her recent responsibilities included staff training, document maintenance, antigen lab mixing, and vendor communications. Patti cherished her family and spent most of her weekends with them at the Hopperstad cabin in Granby, Colorado. Both of her children skied for the Winter Park Resort Competition Center. Besides her immediate family, she will be missed beyond measure by her aunts, uncles, cousins, neighbors, and all who knew her. May her love forever grace us all. A public memorial celebration of Patti’s life will be held December 7th at 1 p.m. at Horan & McConaty’s South Metro location in Centennial (5303 E. County Line Road). The family requests memorial contributions be sent to Porter Hospice Foundation, 2525 South Downing Street, Mason Hall, Second Floor, Denver, Colorado, 80210. Donations also may be made online at www.rmahf.org/hospice, designating Porter Hospice Residence.
