Patricia J. Prudhomme

June 25, 1930 — July 23, 2011

Patricia Jane Prudhomme (81) of Denver passed from this life Saturday, July 23, 2011 surrounded by Robert Prudhomme, her beloved husband of 52 years, her six children Marie Hathaway, Michael Prudhomme, Robert M. Prudhomme, Timothy Prudhomme, Donna Fostvedt, Laura Nesbitt and most of her 15 grandchildren. Her grandchildren are Rebekah Prudhomme, Nicholas Prudhomme, Patricia A. Prudhomme, Cassandra Hathaway, Hannah Prudhomme, Nathaniel Prudhomme, James Prudhomme, Isaac Prudhomme, Justus Fostvedt, Theresa Prudhomme, Faith Fostvedt, Veronica Prudhomme, Hope Fostvedt, Honor Fostvedt and Eamon Prudhomme. She is survived by her sister, Sally Lind. Born Patricia Jane Roche in Cañon City, Colorado, June 25, 1930 to Lawrence Roche and Jane P. (Konty) Roche, she grew up with her older brother Lawrence Roche and sister Sally (Roche) Lind. Following the death of her parents, she was raised by her grandfather Konty along with several of her aunts and uncles. Upon completing high school, she moved to Denver and took a job as a clerk with the then Mountain States Telephone company. She later joined the US Navy reserves where she served for 4 years. After meeting through mutual friends at a Labor Day party in 1958, she married Robert R. Prudhomme on April 25, 1959. Together they raised their 6 children in the same home on West Florida Avenue in which they spent those 52 years. She was ever a loving mother and generous hostess. Many of the children's friends retain fond memories of time spent with Pat. Her strength and kindness will be truly missed not only by her family, but even by those who cared for her in her illnesses over the years. A number of her caregivers commented to the family on how blessed they were to have known and cared for her. Her family considers the last 8 years of her life to have been a gift from God. Even with the difficulty of dialysis several times a week, those extra years brought many graces and blessings. She has now finished her course and we await the day we will all be reunited. Visitation will be Thursday, July 28 from 5-7pm at Horan & McConaty 3101 South Wadsworth Blvd., Lakewood with Rosary at 7. Mass of Christian Burial will be held Friday, July 29, at 10:30am at All Saints Catholic Church 2559 South Federal Blvd., Denver with interment at Ft. Logan National Cemetery, 4400 W. Kenyon Ave. at 12:15pm. Reception to follow at All Saints. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Little Sisters of the Poor: Attention Development, 3629 W. 29th Ave. Denver, CO 80211.
