Patricia Ann Rance

July 27, 1926 — July 25, 2013

We come together with friends and family to celebrate the life of our mother Pat. Patricia A. Rance is the mother of 2 children Samuel Stewart and Craig Stewart. Patricia was married to Richard ""Dick"" Rance for 32 years. Samuel and Craig are children of her first marriage to Roy Stewart for 16 years. Our mom was born in Kansas City, Missouri on July 27, 1926. She was born with a twin brother Dean Ferm (Wichita, Kansas) who passed away a few weeks ago. Patricia's sister was Jackie Garrison. Patricia's father was William Bryan Ferm and her mother's name was Lillie Adeline Ingemanson (Swedish.) Mom is survived by her brother Landvis Ferm (Lindsburg, Kansas), Evans Ferm (Truth or Consequences, New Mexico.) She is also survived by 3 grandchildren, and 2 twin great-grandchildren, Kael and Thor Myklebust, who are only a few weeks old. Mom attended Elvings school that had 1 room, outside of Lindsborg, Kansas. She graduated from Lindsborg High School. She also attended college in St. Louis Missouri. She then married Roy Stewart and lived in St. Louis a short time after marriage. They experienced life on the family farm land in Kansas for 3 years. They lived in Wichita, Kansas where Sam and Craig were born, moved to Texas for a short time and settled in Denver and Lakewood Colorado in the early 60's. Mom received her Pilot's license in the late 60's and her beautician license in the early 70's. She worked as a bookkeeper for many years but favored Franklin Furniture of Denver where she spent many years. There were always new furniture items she would bring home to display for others to see. Mom's later years were spent making quilts which started in 1984. A major part of her quilt work was for young unmarried mothers. She belonged to a quilt club and they made hundreds of quilts, not only small but large quilts as well. Her collection of personal quilts were close to 190. Some were hard for her to give away. She loved to show them off. A few of her quilts were never finished and were in neat piles in her quilt room. As time passed, Mom found it harder and hard to concentrate on quilt making. Alzheimer's became more of a problem for her until she wasn't able to stand for long in church. Simple chores became more difficult, but lunches with mom continued until the very end. Mom prayed to receive the Lord Jesus Christ in 2003. She wanted to know more about the Lord so read her bible in between each quilt she made. The Bible she ready belonged to her mother Lillie. We rejoice for her life in Christ Jesus. She will forever be in the presence of God. I thank the Lord for the health she had for 87 years. She was a wonderful mother, grandmother and now great-grandmother of twin boys. I thank the Lord for what she taught us and the example she was to us. A Public Visitation will be held on Thursday, August 1, 2013 from 9:30 to 10:30 AM with a Funeral Service at 10:30 AM. Both will be held at Horan & McConaty Family Chapel, 7577 West 80th Avenue, Arvada, Colorado. A Reception will follow the Funeral Service. Interment will take place at Crown Hill Cemetery, 7777 West 29th Avenue, Wheat Ridge, Colorado at 1:00 PM.
