Patty was born on August 1, 1943 in Buffalo, South Dakota to Charles and Mildred McFarling. She grew up in Fort Pierre, where she graduated in 1962. After high school, Patty worked for Stanley County Title and then attended the National School of Business in Rapid City, South Dakota. She was united in marriage to Marc Wernli on June 4, 1967, who she met while attending school in Rapid City, South Dakota. She worked for the State of South Dakota both in Pierre and Rapid City. Patty was very involved in volunteer activities at the South Suburban Christian Church and the Salvation Army Food Bank in Englewood, Colorado, along with mission and church building activities on the Navajo Nation in Arizona and New Mexico. Patty is survived by her husband Marc of Denver; daughter Laura (Brian) Weiss; grandson Gabriel Weiss of Bayfield, Colorado; sisters Betty (Art) Boyle of Pierre, South Dakota, Donna Thaden of Creston, Iowa and Margaret (Mike) Mikkelsen of Agar, South Dakota; and brothers James McFarling of Pierre, South Dakota and Charles (Linda) McFarling, Jr. of Fort Pierre, South Dakota. She was preceded in death by her parents Charles and Mildred McFarling, her sister Shirley Swan and her brother-in-law Marvin Swan. Visitation to be held Monday, August 30, 2010, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., Horan & McConaty Family Chapel, 5303 East County Line Road (one block to the east of Holly Street), in Centennial, Colorado. Funeral Service to be held Tuesday, August 31, 2010, 10:30 a.m., at South Suburban Christian Church, 7275 South Broadway, in Littleton, Colorado. Interment follows at 12:30 p.m., Fort Logan National Cemetery ~ Pavilion ""B"", 3698 South Sheridan Boulevard, in Denver, Colorado. Reception to be held following all services at the South Suburban Christian Church.
