Patrick Eugene Derr passed away unexpectedly on December 29, 2022.
The family is deeply saddened and shocked by his sudden death.
Patrick was born July 13, 1961 in Denver. He was the third child of Eugene E. and Murtha E. Derr.
Patrick is survived and missed by his loving wife Haruko; and his siblings John (Angela), Murtha (Tim), James, William and Mary (John).
His memory will also live on with his nieces and nephews Talaya (Bernie), Rafael, Walker, Jackson, Riley, Logan, Dominic and six grand nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Patrick had a love of music, a passion for gardening and an unquenchable thirst for knowledge. He deeply loved his wife, his dogs and his country.
Patrick honorably served in the United States Navy as an Intelligence Officer, and in the Naval Reserve for many years. He was a veteran of the Iraq War.
He obtained his bachelor’s degree in geology. After his naval service, he worked for the United States Postal Service, and retired in 2021.
We will be honoring his life on February 3rd with a service at the Horan and McConaty Chapel (11150 E. Dartmouth Ave.) from 12:30 to 1:30, followed by military honors at Ft. Logan National Cemetery at 2:30.
In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the Denver Dumb Friends League in Patrick’s honor. Or, if you would prefer to provide a forever home to one of their furry residents, Pat would be thrilled.
