Patrick John Dolan, 66, passed away on October 16th after a courageous 18 year battle with Parkinson's Disease. Pat was born in Denver, CO on November 9, 1951 to John F. Dolan and Mary Aikins Dolan. He attended Machebeuf High School in Denver, and during these school years attained the elite rank of Eagle Scout with the Boy Scouts of America. He then achieved his bachelor and master's degrees in Electrical Engineering from Colorado State University in Fort Collins, CO. During his time at CSU, Pat met his wife Sally McDonald (Dolan), whom he married on August 24, 1974. Pat and Sally later welcomed two daughters, Shannon and Brenda. Pat spent his entire career working for Stone and Webster Engineering/Shaw Group from 1974-2008. If you wanted to really get him talking, he was always up for a good discussion on the use of nuclear power. One of Pat's favorite past times involved restoring old cars including a Firebird and Datsun Roadster. He was an avid skier, played soccer in several leagues, golfed, joined a bowling league, competed in many Kinetics races, and loved to ride his bike where he often participated in long-distance charity races. Pat also thoroughly enjoyed outdoor adventures especially jeeping, hiking, camping, and climbing 3 of Colorado's 14's. Further interests included traveling (including such distant places as Pakistan, Thailand, Europe, New Zealand, United Arab Emirates), science fiction, Star Trek (âbeam me up Scotty', and âlive long and prosper' became ever favorite lines), and rooting for all of the Denver sports teams, especially the Denver Broncos. Pat was happiest when combining his fun times and interests with spending time with his family and friends. Pat was also proud of his strong Irish heritage, and always seemed to have that âluck of the Irish' touch. He was a tinkerer, a thinker, and will be remembered by those close to him as generous, loyal, intelligent, and always up for some good humor/Irish Wit.
Pat is preceded in death by parents John F. and Mary A. Dolan, and survived by brothers Dennis and Tim (Denise) Dolan, sister Kathleen (Jerry) Walsh, wife Sally Dolan, and daughters Shannon (Brian) Bell and Brenda (Ryan) Cabell as well as 4 grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you contribute to the Michael J Fox foundation www.michaeljfox.org and/or Parkinson Association of the Rockies www.parkinsonrockies.org.
