Patrick Jeffery McGuan

March 10, 1964 — March 20, 2017

Patrick Jeffery McGuan died in a tragic traffic accident on March 20, 2017, just ten days after his 53rd birthday. There will be a visitation for Pat on Friday, March 24, at 9:00 AM, followed by a 10:00 AM mass at St. Elizabeth of Hungary, 1060 St. Francis Way, Denver, CO 80204. Pat was born on March 10, 1964 in Onconto Falls, WI to Thomas and Beatrice McGuan. Pat was the seventh of nine children. He was raised in Waterville, Maine and graduated from the University of Maine – Orno with a degree in mechanical engineering. He then obtained a masters degree in Computer Integrated Manufacturing from Brigham Young University. Pat's work ethic and loyalty might best be exemplified by the fact that he retired from the company he started his professional career with: Bell (although Bell went through numerous name changes before Pat retired). After a year and half of retirement, Pat was lured back to work by Ball Aerospace, where he worked until his untimely death. Pat moved to Denver in 1997 because of his love of the outdoors, especially skiing and mountain biking. He soon met his wife Maggie who shared his love of the outdoors. They married in 2000 and welcomed their son Andrew in 2002. Three years later they welcomed daughter Emily. Pat was a fantastic father and husband who enjoyed spending time with his family above all else. Pat is survived by his wife Maggie Sweeny; son Andrew; daughter Emily; sisters Peg Steffeck (Rick), Jean Petley (Steve), Nancy Weeks (Nate), and Cathy Durette (Pete); brothers Frank McGuan (Sue), Mike McGuan (Denise), Dave McGuan, and Greg McGuan (Tami); and many nieces and nephews. Pat was predeceased by his mother and father. Pat was a loyal, conscientious man who was generous with his time. He led a life worth emulating, and he will be sorely missed by all who had the good fortune to know him. In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully requests donations be made to Bridging Hope, 5320 N. Columbine Rd., Denver, CO 80221. Pat served on the board of this charitable organization.
