Patrick was born and raised in the Denver area and at the age of 2, he was baptized in Holy Cross Lutheran Church, Wheat Ridge. He was educated in Happy Valley Preschool, Central Elementary, Kearney Middle School, Academy of Charter Schools, and PSL Charter School. He obtained a GED at the age of 16. Patrick graduated from Metropolitan State University of Denver in May, 2016, with a BA in Psychology and minor in chemistry. He was very proud of his college degree, having completed many courses in math and science. He wanted to go in to research. Patrick hitch hiked for thousands of miles, yet he was murdered a half mile from his own home. Patrick is survived by his parents, Cheryl Murphy and Michael Murphy; by his paternal grandmother, June Murphy; by numerous aunts, uncles and cousins; and by his special friends ""Smuj"" and her son to whom Patrick was like a father. He was nicknamed ""Water"" by his friends and will be mourned by all who knew him. Patrick was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Elmer and Virginia Arnold; and by his paternal grandfather, George Murphy. The Memorial Service will be held at 1:00 PM, Friday, March 17 - St. Patrick's Day - at Scum of the Earth Community Church, 935 W. 11th Ave., Denver. Patrick's ashes will later be scattered in places he had loved. In lieu of flowers, donations in Patrick's memory can be sent to the Metropolitan State University of Denver General Scholarship Fund, Office of Financial Aid and Scholarships, Campus Box 2, SSB/130, P.O. Box 173362, Denver, CO 80217. Patrick will always be missed.
