Patti Harrington

Patti Gail Harrington of Lakewood, Colorado passed away March 7, 2021 from complications due to COVID. She was preceded in death by her husband, Roger Edward Harrington, parents Danny and Nadyne Brown, and brother David Brown.  Patti is survived by her daughters Alison (Jeremy Leitner) and Jamie, granddaughters Aubrey and Avery, sisters Debbie and Dee-Ann (Jerry Failing), sister-in-law Cheryl Brown, brother-in-law James Harrington (Irene), sister-in-law Jeanne Walsh (James) and many more family and dear friends.

Patti was a Colorado native, growing up in Southwest Denver. She attended Abraham Lincoln High School. She went on to pursue her teaching degree from UNC and later a Masters in education from Lesley University. Patti met Roger when they worked together at Kmart. They were married on September 8, 1974 and enjoyed 33 years together before Roger lost his battle with pancreatic cancer.

Patti was an elementary school teacher in Denver Public Schools for more than 25 years before retiring in 2015. She touched the lives of hundreds of children and colleagues through her dedication and compassion as a teacher at Goldrick and Greenlee Elementary.  Patti's love for teaching and her students was obvious to anyone who spoke with her.

Upon retirement, Patti loved to travel, read, visit her daughters in Boston and North Carolina, spend time with family and friends, and volunteer within DPS. She loved watching golf and cheering on all the local sports teams.

Generosity and kindness will be the traits for which Patti will be remembered. Her smile lit up the room; her laugh, contagious. She was a beautiful person inside and out, and will be forever missed.

Due to the pandemic a private burial will be held at Fort Logan National Cemetery.
A celebration of her life will be held when the sun is shining as bright as she did.

The family would like to thank all the amazing nurses, respiratory therapists, doctors, and staff at Swedish Medical Center for all their love and compassion while caring for Patti.
