Patty Jo Lipe

Patty Jo ""Pat"" Markey Lipe, 82, died on Monday, October 28, 2019 at St. Andrew's Village in Aurora, Colorado. She was in hospice after a series of medical events over the past few months.

Pat was born at home in Ottawa County, Kansas on April 25, 1937. She grew up in Verdi, Kansas and graduated from Solomon High School. After graduation she worked in Salina. She met her future husband Charles ""Chuck"" Lipe through a mutual friend. They married at Sacred Heart Church in Salina on December 15, 1962.

Pat resided in Salina and then Wichita as Chuck completed a tour of duty in Vietnam. While Pat lived in Wichita, Chuck was stateside for the birth of their daughter Tina. The Air Force took the family to El Paso, Texas and then to Aurora, Colorado. It was in Aurora their son, Jim, was born and Chuck retired from the service. In Colorado, Pat worked for various trucking companies including ICX, Viking and RAC Transportation.

Chuck passed in 1981 and Pat continued to raise their children in Colorado on her own. As her family grew with spouses and then grandchildren, Pat remained active in their lives and enjoyed numerous trips to California as well as other family vacations. She also maintained relationships with so many friends and family. Pat valued those relationships and kept in contact through visits, cards, and phone calls. Another way that Pat showed her appreciation for loved ones was by sharing delicious meals and baked goods she enjoyed preparing for them.

Pat is survived by her children Tina (Troy) Ward and James Lipe, her grandchildren Chad (Janice) Ward, Justin (Felicity) Ward, Rachael (Zach) Jones, and Andrew Lipe, and several nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her husband Charles Lipe, mother Inez Trickle Markey, father James Markey and sister Eleynor Markey Harmon.

Services will be held at Horan and McConaty, 11150 E Dartmouth Ave, Aurora, Colorado, on Tuesday, November 5th at 10 a.m. The family would like to thank the staff at St. Andrew's Village for their compassionate care. If donations are preferred, the family suggests The American Lung Association and USO.
