Paul was born on January 26, 1967 to Ed and Sandy Deibert at Lutheran Medical Center in Wheat Ridge. As Paul often liked to point out, Sandy was the oldest first time mother in the maternity ward and Paul was a preemie â one of the few times he was early! Two years later, Ed and Sandy welcomed their second child, Eddie. To say that Paul resented Eddie's arrival would be an understatement, nevertheless, he loved his little brother.
Paul displayed his stubbornness and independence at an early age. When he was five, he insisted to his Oma that he was a big boy and could walk to school alone. But Oma, being the good grandmother she was, secretly followed him to make sure he made it to school safely. She would crouch down behind cars whenever Paul looked back to make sure she wasn't following him.
Paul graduated from Wheat Ridge High School in 1985 and started at CU Boulder in the fall. Unfortunately for Paul, he found out that CU's reputation as a party school was not without cause. After two and half years at CU, the administration suggested nicely but sternly, that perhaps he might want to continue his higher education at another institution.
Thus began Paul's career as a manager at AMC Theatres. Paul worked full-time at AMC for nine years while continuing his college education on a part-time basis at Metropolitan State College of Denver. While he was a manager at AMC, Paul liked to hold private, after-hours screenings of movies for family, friends and staff. No need for Moviepass or AMC Stubs A-List back then!
Paul received his Bachelor's of Science degree from Metro in May of 1994. One year later, he would start his twenty year public service career at the Department of Law working his way up from the help desk to IT manager.
Paul met Kirida in 1992. They met online before online dating was a thing; or the world wide web. When they met in real life, they both felt the spark of mutual attraction. Their first date was drinks at the Boiler Room at the Tivoli then seeing ""Lawnmower Man."" Neither will admit to being the one who chose that stinker of a movie.
They moved into their first home in Denver in 1995. They knew it was time to move when cars on cinder blocks started popping up in neighboring yards like invading weeds. So in 2003, they packed up for bucolic Wheat Ridge where Paul always wanted to live.
In 2011, a four-legged, nine pound bundle of canine aggression and affection by the name of Abby came into their life. She quickly cuddled herself into their hearts and made herself queen of the household.
After already having shared their lives for twenty three years, Paul and K were married in 2015 in a simple ceremony behind their home, witnessed by their families.
Paul and K enjoyed hosting dinners at home, going out with friends and travelling. They've traveled to Mexico, the Caribbean, Hawaii, Thailand and Cambodia. It was a life filled with good family, good friends and good times.
Due to a tragic accident, Paul left this life on August 4th at the same place that he started it, Lutheran Medical Center. And so the circle closes. Paul may be gone but he will live on in our memories and our hearts as a loving husband, son, brother, uncle, nephew, cousin and friend.
