Paul Gutknecht went to be with his Lord on Friday, April 27, 2018. He was born in St. Louis, Missouri to Clarence Daniel Gutknecht and Ella Johanna Feddersen on June 6, 1932 and was baptized on July 3, 1932. Paul married Mary Ellen Finegan on July 27, 1956 after his return from serving in Europe. They were the proud parents of four children. He is survived by Beth (Keith) Holle, Mark (Betsy), Barry (Denise), and Steve (Tracie), and three granddaughters - Michelle, Sabrina, and Becky. He also leaves behind a younger brother and sister - Carl and Ruth. Paul was a veteran, serving in the Army of Occupation in Germany from 1954 to 1956. He was awarded BSBA and MBA degrees from the University of Denver and was a CPA who worked for various oil companies during his career. Paul worked in several states across the U.S., and even different countries, but always came back to Colorado. He enjoyed the mountains, the weather, and the outdoor lifestyle. Golfing, softball, baseball, family picnics, reading and exploring the mountains (ghost towns and abandoned mines) were some of his favorite pastimes. Visitation will be Monday, May 7, 2018 from 5-7pm at Horan and McConaty Family Chapel, 9998 Grant Street, Thornton. The Memorial Service will be held on Tuesday, May 8, 2018, 10am at Gethsemane Lutheran Church, 10675 Washington Street, Northglenn. The Committal Service will be Wednesday, May 9, 2018, 12:30pm at Fort Logan National Cemetery, 3698 South Sheridan Boulevard, Denver.
