Paul O. Jansen

Paul O. Jansen, 74 of Arvada, Colorado died on October 6th at University Hospital, Aurora, Colorado. He was born in Rudkobing, Denmark on April 25, 1936, and lost his parents, at an early age. Mr. Jansen lived through World War II as Germans invaded Denmark. As a captain of The Maersk Line he traveled the world and spoke eight languages fluently. He worked at Black Butte Coal Company, Texas Gulf Soda Ash Company in Western Wyoming, worked at a number of gold mines in Nevada and worked for many other prestigious companies as a master electrician. Mr. Jansen also translated for former President Clinton during the Denver Summit Of The Eight. Paul was a hobbyist landscaper, fisherman, stamp and coin collector. He was a member of Mensa and loved doing jigsaw puzzles and brain teasers. Paul was a gourmet chef known for his Smorgasbords and Danish Pancakes. He had a heart of gold, made friends easily and was loved dearly. Paul Jansen is survived by his wife Francine; his two biological children, Karen Oda Jansen Cotton, and Erik Paul Jansen; his step-children Cindy Applehans, Marc Cinquanta, Matt Cinquanta, Suzie DiNicola; and his step-grandchildren Rachel and Brandon Applehans and Nick and Vince DiNicola. He was preceeded in death by his parents Thorvald and Oda Jansen, both of Denmark. Funeral Service will be held at Holy Family Catholic Church, 4380 Utica Street, Denver on Saturday, October 23, at 11:00 AM. There will be a reception following the service.
