Paul Douglas Rolniak, age 71, of Centennial, Colorado, passed away on December 17, 2020. Paul was born on February 7, 1949, in San Diego, California, to Walter Paul and Mary Malchaski Rolniak. Paul and his three siblings, Suellen Rolniak Marinoni, the late Wallace Rolniak, and Thomas Rolniak, grew up in northwest Arkansas.
Paul graduated from Fayetteville High School and enlisted in the United States Navy, serving from 1967 to 1969. Paul then attended the University of Arkansas, earning the degree of Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering in 1972. He pursued graduate studies in chemical engineering at Rice University in Houston, Texas and was awarded the Doctor of Philosophy degree in 1977. Paul had a long and productive career in energy and pipeline consulting and was a founding partner in EAI, Inc. of Westminster, Colorado.
In 1988, Paul married Alexis Giese in Washington, DC. Together they raised two daughters, Diana Rolniak Mondo of Denver, Colorado, and Caroline Rolniak of New York, New York. Paul was a devoted husband and father whose greatest joy in life was his family.
Paul’s other great love was the out of doors. He moved to Colorado in 1980 to enjoy hiking, skiing, cycling, and sightseeing in the beautiful Rocky Mountains. He climbed numerous fourteeners, summiting Longs Peak in 1988, and was frequently seen riding his bicycle in Cherry Creek State Park.
There will be private cremation. No services are planned at this time. Interment will be at Fort Logan National Cemetery in Denver, Colorado.
