Paul Joseph Schlagbaum

October 1, 1940 — March 10, 2018

Paul Joseph Schlagbaum passed away on March 10, 2018 from lung cancer at the age of 77. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on March 23, 2018 at Most Precious Blood Catholic Church, 2250 S. Harrison Street Denver, Colorado 80210. A traditional Catholic mass will take place with cremation at a later date. Paul was born in Ottoville, Ohio on October 1, 1940. He graduated from Ottoville High School and continued to receive a B.A. in Animal Science from Ohio State University. Paul was married to Cynthia Kahle on November 10, 1962. They were married 55 years. Paul worked as a sales executive for IBM for 25 years. He then worked for Hewlett Packard and Exybite. He enjoyed fishing, primarily in the great lakes of Ohio and Michigan, golfing, bird watching, gardening, traveling, and cooking. He loved high school and college sports, especially football and basketball. He grew to love watching four of his five grandchildren play lacrosse in Colorado and Florida. Paul was a true family man and more than anything enjoyed spending time with his wife, kids, grandkids. Paul is survived by his wife Cynthia, their three children; Brad, Craig (Allison), and Amy (Scott), five grandchildren, Britta, Christian, Nicolas, Ben, and Emma Kate. He is also survived by his brother, Bill Schlagbaum, and four sisters Anne Beining, Martha Fischbach, Diane Honigford and Norma Hilvers, and many nieces and nephews. Paul is preceded in death by his parents Walter and Genevieve Schlagbaum.
